The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD)has warned of thunderstorms, gusty winds, hail and heavy to very heavy rainfall across several regions. The latest TMD advisory, issued on October 6, 2026, warns that accumulated rainfall could trigger flash floods, overflowing waterways and landslides. This is an important update for tourists as Thailand is one of the fav countries to visit for travellers from across the globe.This doesn’t mean the entire country is closed to tourists; but it does mean that weather conditions need to be checked before and during the trip.Which parts of Thailand are affected?As per latest TMD forecast, unsettled weather is affecting parts of northern, central and eastern Thailand, as well as the South. Bangkok and its surrounding areas are also under a weather watch.The TMD’s seven-day forecast for October 6–12 says that during October 6–8, thunderstorms with gusty winds, hail and heavy rain are expected in the North, Central Thailand including Bangkok and its vicinity, and the East. Similar conditions are forecast in parts of the Gulf of Thailand.The department has therefore advised ships to proceed with caution and stay away from thunderstorms. For tourists, this means boat trips, island-hopping excursions and other marine activities may need to be changed or cancelled depending on local conditions.
