One of the main topics surrounding Meghan Markle’s shift to the UK has been her acting career. While the ‘Suits’ alum has not appeared on screen in any major role since she tied the knot with Prince Harry, multiple reports suggest Markle looks forward to returning to the entertainment industry. In the past couple of months, one of the biggest talks about her career has been about her possible feature on ‘The Gentlemen’ season 3. While it has been commented on again and again that the star will not be appearing in the upcoming season, recent reports suggest that the Duchess of Sussex’ name was used as a form of ‘promo’ for the show.
Meghan Markle used for publicity of ‘The Gentlemen’ season 3
The Telegraph recently reported that Meghan Markle will not appear in the third season of ‘The Gentlemen’; however, her name was attached to the project for ‘promotional’ purposes. A statement from the report mentioned that people within Markle’s circle believe that her name was used as a tactic to promote the OTT show, since the second season was released right around the time the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made the big move to the UK with their children. The statement read, “Some people in her camp feel she was used to help promote season two because they knew it wasn’t as good as the first season and had already commissioned a third.” It’s the oldest marketing trick in the book: get a big name to read a script, then leak that you’re ‘in conversation’ with them when, in reality, nothing is particularly far along.”It had earlier been suggested that one of the main reasons behind the royal family’s move to the UK following their six-year stay in Montecito, California, had been due to her possibly filming for the show.In another interview, Theo James, who leads the hit TV show, was also asked about rumours surrounding Markle’s casting in the upcoming season. While he and Kaya Scodelario hit the red carpet together at The Guildhall in London in September, he talked to Town and Country about the matter. He was asked about it and joked, “Yes, Fergie (Sarah Ferguson) is joining. She’ll be playing my love interest.”He further added, “No, I think that was mainly a lot of hot air. At the moment, we’re just trying to get as many eyes on season two, and then season three will happen soon. But in terms of story, we have the overarching ambition of where we’re going to go. We’re going to expand the world and go to different countries. But in terms of the minutiae, I mean, it’s still very much up in the air.”
What is ‘The Gentlemen’ about
The series, which premiered in 2024, features a standalone spin-off to the 2019 film, set in the same fictional universe rather than a direct sequel. It follows Eddie Horniman (played by Theo James), a young aristocrat who inherits his family’s massive 500-year-old country estate after his father’s passing. However, he realises things are not as they seem, since the estate sits on top of a massive cannabis operation run by the Glass family, and there seem to be many family secrets.
