The release date of ‘Om: Chapter 1’ has reportedly been pushed to November 26 this year. The action drama stars Dhanush and Mammootty in prominent roles. The film was earlier scheduled to arrive in theatres on October 16. However, the makers postponed the release to avoid a clash with Rajinikanth’s ‘Jailer 2’.
November 26 release date appears in trade listing
The Tamil Cinema Trade Guide shared by Sridhar Pillai mentioned November 26, 2026, as the release date for ‘Om: Chapter 1’.However, the film’s makers have not announced the November 26 date. It is therefore being reported as a possible release date for now. An official confirmation is still awaited.
Dhanush and Mammootty headline two-part action drama
The film is titled ‘Om – Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood’. It is described as an action drama with Dhanush in the lead role. Mammootty, Sai Pallavi, Sreeleela and Naseeruddin Shah are also part of the key cast. Sai Abhyankkar composed the songs and background score for the project. ‘Om: Chapter 1’ is planned as the first installment of a two-part franchise.
Dhanush shares National Award moment with mother
Dhanush recently celebrated a major achievement at the National Film Awards. His ‘Raayan’ won the Best Tamil Film honor, giving him his first National Award for direction. He also received a Special Mention for his performance in ‘Captain Miller’.After returning home Dhanush shared the achievement with his mother, Vijayalakshmi. He placed the National Award medal around her neck and captured the moment in a photograph. Vijayalakshmi was seen smiling as she wore the medal. Dhanush later shared the picture on social media. He accompanied the photograph with the message, “All for that smile,” along with heart emojis.
Mammootty receives fourth National Award
Mammootty also received a major career honor at the 72nd National Film Awards ceremony. He was presented with the Best Actor award at the event in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.Speaking to Mathrubhumi, Mammootty opened up on the significance of receiving the recognition. He described national recognition as an inspiration for performers. The actor also acknowledged the directors, writers, co-actors, producers and audiences who supported him throughout his career.“As usual, it’s very inspirational for every performer to get recognised by the nation. I am very fortunate to have my fourth national award for best actor. It’s been a long journey with a lot of people behind me and supporting me – my directors, my writers, my co-actors and producers, and the people who were appreciating me.And I am very happy that I could entertain them for such a long time, and I hope that I could do more and more times. I can only assure you that I will be working very hard to be there,” Mammootty said.
